On behalf of myself, Brian and Paul, I’d like to wish you a very warm welcome to King Pears, our brand-new platform celebrating all things Worcestershire cricket.

In addition to our dedicated coverage of the Pears and Rapids, we also want to shine a brighter spotlight on the plethora of incredible Midlands clubs that contribute to the wider cricketing landscape in Worcestershire.

Whether it’s a feelgood story about a talented Worcestershire academy cricketer who’s excelled in a recent league game, an interesting connection between your local team and the Pears, a fascinating piece of history that people might want to learn about or a personal tale of how club cricket brought you into the greatest game ever invented, we want to hear your stories, no matter how niche you think they may be.

From my own experience of playing for Rowington in the Cotswold Hills League, which features a number of Worcestershire sides such as Fladbury, Broadway, Elmley Castle and The Lenches, I know first-hand just how deep the connections between the county circuit and the club game run, even if they aren’t tremendously well-known, and, as such, I’m passionate about bringing those stories to life for a wider audience.

From monthly club spotlights - highlighting the rich history of local teams and the inspiring people who continue to make them so special - to engaging feature pieces about the origins of professional cricketers as well as frequent league round-ups, I firmly believe that as a platform we can do exactly that.

If this seems like something that you’d like to help us out with, please get in touch with us via aaron@kingpears.news or on our social media channels and we’ll be more than happy to arrange a proper chat.

Let’s showcase the very best of what this historic region has to offer.
