Gwen Davies is “incredibly excited” about the prospect of facing Tier One titans Surrey in the next stage of the Vitality T20 County Cup, but insists there’s still lessons to be learned from Sunday’s weather-affected second round encounter against Leicestershire at Grace Road.
The Rapids, who had finished on a total of 72/8 from a truncated 16 overs before the thunder and lightning arrived in Leicester, booked their place in the third round of the competition in unconventional circumstances after beating the Foxes via a bowl-off in the Mike Turner Indoor School, with young seamer Caitlin Baker-Smith and the ever-reliable Jess Beach getting the job done for the visitors by a scoreline of 3-2.
