Terrific Taylor delighted that his peripatetic days are over

“It’s been a winter of very much settling the family and getting our lives together in Worcester which has been really nice. We love Worcester, the club and the city, so it’s been great to settle and put some roots down."

Tom Taylor feels more settled than ever before in his cricket career – and is aiming to repay Worcestershire with more sustained wicket-taking in 2026.

The 31-year-old paceman was the Pears’ leading wicket-taker in the Championship last season with 58 wickets at 22.87 apiece. They are hugely impressive figures in the First Division and just as impressive is the fact that Taylor was ever-present in red-ball cricket – quite a feat for a seamer under the exacting demands of the chaotic county schedule.

Taylor has proved to be an excellent pick-up by the Pears after arriving at New Road in 2024. Born in Stoke-on-Trent, he came through the Derbyshire academy before spending three seasons at each of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. His peripatetic days as a cricketer are now, though, very much over.

“I didn’t go abroad to play this winter because, just after last season finished, we moved into a house in Worcester,” he said. “It’s been a winter of very much settling the family and getting our lives together in Worcester which has been really nice. We love Worcester, the club and the city, so it’s been great to settle and put some roots down.
