The boys bowled fantastically against Kent...and I can't wait to be fully back amongst them. says Ben Allison

Hello Pears fans. I’m pleased to start this week with some excellent news. I had a scan on my back yesterday and the results came back all good which is great. Hopefully it won’t be long now before I am up for first-team selection – another two weeks, they reckon. I’m stepping up the bowling workloads and on Monday will play for the 2nds against a Birmingham League XI and will bowl six overs at full tilt, so I am looking forward to that.

There are different ways to look at an injury like this. One is that it could have been a lot worse, something like half a season out. I had a double stressy when I was 18 which was asymptomic, so I had no alarm bells going off, so when I had the news, I was thinking ‘what on earth has happened here?’ I got that news at the end of September and I wasn’t properly bowling again until May (it ruled me out of the Under 19s World Cup in New Zealand which was really gutting). This time at least it has been much shorter. Frustrating, but it means I will go into the T20 as fresh as can be.
